“Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker

Hi Reader,

Happy June!

Oh, and Happy Summer! I have to admit something. I used to love Summer as a kid but when we moved to Florida and I started having kids of my own, I didn’t care much for being here haha. My dad was transferred here back in the late 80’s in the Army and we kinda just stayed.

Summer is so sticky hot here and well, there’s hurricanes. It can be very unpredictable weather as well.

But….over the past several years, I’ve started to really enjoy Summers here. It’s still sticky hot and no, the hurricanes didn’t leave lol. I’ve just had a different mindset and more positive outlook. It makes me want to be here more. Plus, my kids are both grown and married and I have one granddaughter. We all live on the same property. As soon as she’s old enough, we’ll be able to take her to some fun water springs and the beach. We have even started to do more things inside when the weather is brutal.

My daughter and I have back-to-back birthdays in July. I’m the 19th and she’s the 20th. Plus, we have like 20 more family birthdays in July so that’s always fun getting together to celebrate.

Are you looking forward to Summer or already ready for Fall lol? Fall is definitely my season but I’m going to soak in all the things about Summer. I tend to slow down and just do whatever. I shared all about it last week. Most of the outside work will get done before noon when it’s somewhat cooler out. We are known for afternoon rain in the Summer. There is always something I can be doing here inside my home so I don’t mind lighting a candle and creating a new recipe haha.

Can you believe those Hydrangeas ☝🏻 are faux?

Watermelon Feta Salad

I had this similar salad at a restaurant last year and had to come home and re-create it. So refreshing for Summertime!
