Hi Reader,
Hope you have had a great week! It’s been so hot here. I kinda think it’s been hot everywhere, especially in the USA. I’m really looking forward to some cooler weather. With Summer coming to an end in a few weeks, the fresh produce will also be coming to an end (some parts of the world). We actually will be kicking off our garden in September. I’ll be sharing more on all that in weeks to come.
Whether you grow your own food or have been enjoying the farmer’s market with all that yummy produce, sadly it will be ceasing soon (if you live in a more colder climate).
Now is a good time to start preparing on what you want to do with all that produce. In today’s newsletter, I’m specifically going to be sharing all about tomatoes. They are one of the most abundant fruits that we receive from a plant. It would be a shame to let any of those to go to waste.
Authentic Italian Sunday Sauce
This sauce comes from a family recipe. Cousin Bruno made the best sauce and I remember going over on Sunday’s and just having a bowl of spaghetti, chit chatting and playing outside on the farm.

Tomatoes are one of the easiest fruits to grow!
A Few Simple Other Ways to Use Fresh Tomatoes
Here are a few other creative ways to use an abundance of tomatoes, whether they are slicers, romas, cherry or grape tomatoes.
Prepare Sun-Dried Tomatoes
- Cut tomatoes in half, sprinkle with salt and herbs, and dry them in the oven or a dehydrator.
Make Tomato Basil Soup
- Ingredients: Tomatoes, chicken broth, onion, butter, basil, spices, heavy cream.
- Method: Sauté onion, add tomatoes and broth, boil, then simmer. Blend for texture with heavy cream.
Freeze for Later
- Clean, chop, and blanch tomatoes before freezing in bags. Use flat freezer bags for easy storage. You can also can them at a later date.
Share with Friends
- Gift excess tomatoes or homemade products to friends and family.
Book Update
My book is with an editor who will be proofreading, editing and formatting it. This seems so surreal but it’s really happening! I should have my proof for me to approve the first or second week in September. Once I am 100% satisfied with it, I’ll be announcing when the “Book Launch” will be. Thank you if you signed up. It’s not too late if you’d still like to get on board and have some fun. Just reply to this email and I’ll add you to my list.
The idea for the book to be published is somewhere around the middle of October. I will be giving away signed copies and it will make a great Christmas present for that special someone in your life. Need a gift for a bridal shower or a college student? This is the book. Need a git for a wedding or a new mom? This is the book. Need a book for someone who just wants to learn how to make simple no fuss meals, learn the basics of homemaking skills, grow their own food, mill their own flour? This is the book.
I’m so excited as I’ve poured my heart into this guide/cook book for a while and can’t wait to share it with you!
Coming Soon
Fall is vastly approaching us and I’m here for it! I’m working on some great recipes. One that I’m excited about is my grandma’s apple cake. 😋 Some quick fall simple meals, desserts and more! Stay tuned.
If you have any ideas you’d love to see from me, just reply to this email. I am all about getting feedback from you!
Have a wonderful weekend friend! Have you starting decorating for Fall yet? I think I’m going to start pulling down my Summer and USA Flag decor this weekend. I’ll leave my flag bunting up outside until Labor Day but I’m all about the coziness right now. It’s been raining anyways which means candles are all the things right now in my home. 🧡
