“Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker

Hi Reader,

Happy Tuesday friend!

I couldn’t wait until the end of the week to tell you but….

I just became a new Grandma 🎉! I don’t even feel old enough to be one haha but my son and his wife had the most perfect little girl. They named her Scarlett Rose and I’m already obsessed with her.

I spent the last few weeks preparing meals and these wonderful Lactation Cookies for Maddy. In doing so, it prompted me to create 25 Best Drop-Off Meal Ideas. We all have loved ones in need whether it be for a new born baby, an illness or a death in the family.

Reader, as always, tag me over on Instagram @lhsimpleliving. I love seeing all things simple living and any recipes of mine you make.

P.S. I truly appreciate all the shares, likes, comments on my posts and over on Instagram. It keeps me going everyday to show up and share any wisdom that I may have.

So, go grab a cup of coffee or tea and I hope you enjoy the reading today. Have a great week! I’ll just be over here snuggling with sweet Scarlett. ❤️

Garden

Well, my tulips have just about fizzled out. I’m so glad I enjoyed them this year. I’m already looking forward to planting them in December.

I know it may be snowing still where you live but now is the time to start planning your Spring Garden. Do you know what you are going to plant? My garden from last Fall was probably one of my best gardens I have ever had in all the 20+ years I’ve been homesteading. I contribute it to my organic compost I bought locally and my new raised beds. I’ll be sharing about why I love them so much soon but I wanted to let you know they are having a crazy good sale on beds and planting supplies. Up to 30% off. Click the button below for an additional 5% off (no code needed). This sale goes off on 2/28/25. Grab what you can!

Recipes

Lactation Cookies

As part of a healthy lifestyle, these cookies are packed with nutrients to assist the new mama with her milk flow.

I sometimes miss the crunch of a Dorito but I found something even better tasting and nutritious.

Acts of Kindness

My love language is food. I love baking and cooking meals for others. When a need arrives for a family or friend of mine, I get to planning on what I can take them. We all have to eat and that is one thing I enjoy doing that will take the pressure off of someone.

As a new grandma, I created a meal train for a few of us to help out my son and daughter-in-law while they got acclimated to the newness of being parents. I brought breakfast, lunch and dinners for the first several weeks.

I was also making those Lactation Cookies almost every other day. Kyle seemed to like them as much as Maddy did lol. Well, I can’t say Bill and I haven’t enjoyed them either haha.

25 Best Drop-Off Meal Ideas

These are my go-to simple meals that I enjoy taking to loved ones that are in need.

Sourdough Inclusions Update

If you saw last week, I’ve been experimenting with inclusions to put in my sourdough loaves. It’s been fun adding different combinations. I made a Yellow Cheddar and Jalapeno, Roasted Garlic and Rosemary and Cranberry Pecan. I have a Blueberry Maple Lemon & Cinnamon Raisin Pecan in the oven as I type this.

I’m working on putting together a “How to Guide” on how to do the inclusions. Would that be helpful? I’ll add it to the “Subscriber’s Library” where you’ll have access to it at anytime. Stay tuned….

I share this all the time because I truly love these products! My favorite Non-Toxic Cleaning and Laundry Supplies. I’ve searched and searched for years looking for something that my husband would like so his construction working dirty clothes would smell good. Get 100 FREE Loads of Laundry Soap. Little House Simple Living “Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker Hi Reader, Happy Thursday friend! I’m glad to be back on track with my weekly postings. Did you get a chance to look at all the recipes I shared during my Super Bowl Party Menu series? That was fun doing and I hope you enjoyed it too. So, it looks like Spring is coming but I also checked the weather and it’s looks like it’s cooling back down over the next few weeks. Maybe it’s a false Spring we’re having 🤷🏼♀️....

Little House Simple Living Hi Reader, Happy Sunday Friend! Today’s a week from Super Bowl 🏈 Sunday! Do you watch the game? I have a confession to make. I don’t really watch the game haha. I’m more of a “watch football at the field” kinda person 😂. Now, we will turn the game on. Our biggest thing is watching the commercials and the halftime show. Hopefully, it’s some good singers this year. Nevertheless, I will be making a bunch of football party food. Whether you are having a quiet watching...
