“Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker
Hi Reader,
Happy Friday friend!
This is has been a long week for some reason. Hope it was good for you?
I’m sharing on a touchy subject for some people this week but I’m just going to get it out there because I feel it’s really important right now. Do you ever feel like you are stuck or lukewarm going through this thing we call life?
Well, I 🙋🏼♀️ did. I was baptized in the Holy Spirit 24 years ago but I had no clue what to do from there. I gave my life and turned from my old self to a new one. I thought I would feel different but no one at that church said what to do. Well, all they did say was I needed to get plugged into a small group. What’s a small group? It’s basically like a Bible study group. I did join them but I feel like half the time we didn’t have any structure.
I’ve spent the last 2 decades just being a “lukewarm Christian”. Maybe you are feeling that way too. Maybe you aren’t even a believer and that’s ok. I hope you’ll stick around just for the reading today.
Lately, I've been on a quest to elevate my Bible study routine. In this search, I stumbled upon something I genuinely believe could be a game-changer for many of us. It's called the James Method Verse Map Journal. It’s how I’m studying and understanding the Bible now. I mean, I really am understanding it.
You know how sometimes we read scripture, and although it resonates, it feels like there's more lurking beneath the surface? That's where this journal steps in. Instead of just reading, it's about diving deep, breaking down verses, and discovering connections, truths, and consistencies in the Bible that can sometimes elude us. It's like having a roadmap to the treasures hidden within scriptures.
The part that excites me the most? It's more than just a study tool. It prompts you to reflect on what God reveals about Himself and about us. It's like having a dialogue with the scripture itself.
If this resonates with you, read more in detail below.
Breaking Bread Together
Let’s also talk about breaking bread together with our neighbors or in our community. One thing I think about most often is that Covid kept us isolated from our friends and family. Some people are still isolated due to anxiety from being stuck inside those couple of years. That’s not how were are supposed to be living.
If you’ve been here a while, you know my love for grinding my own flour and making delicious and nutritious bread. It’s wheat that hasn’t been sprayed with glyphosate or other chemicals and all the nutrients are left intact.
My basic whole wheat loaf makes 2 smaller loaves or 1 nice size loaf and about 6-8 rolls. What if we all made 2 loaves and shared one “just because” with your neighbor? Or take them a basket of rolls for their dinner. I bet they would be shockingly surprised and elated that you thought of them. I also make Aunt Linda’s Pumpkin Bread in a 4-loaf pan and pass some out to others.
Jesus compared himself to bread. If you look all throughout the Bible, you see people eating bread all the time, mainly Jesus and his disciples. It’s both good for our bodies and our spiritual growth.
“Then Jesus declared, ‘I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.'” – John 6:35

Removing Distractions and How to Understand the Bible
I wrote a long and nice detailed post about how to study and understand the Bible. I know first hand that there are distractions that keep me from dedicating time to study the word. My biggest one I think most of us can say is screen time. That includes social media, tv, youtube, etc.
Removing Distractions and How to Understand the Bible
We’re diving in deeper and really going to understand the Bible. Along the way, it’s time to remove and distractions so we can make time for God.
