Cozy Fall Mornings and Evenings

“Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker

Here’s to the weekend friend!

Hope you’ve had a great week Reader! I’m excited that we are moving into the low 80’s this weekend and next week. I hope it stays on a downward trend until Springtime haha.

I’ve been cleaning my home, room by room. I finished up our master bedroom last weekend.

One thing I love to do is change out my bedding every season. Depending on what holiday falls within that season, I might swap out the quilt for a different one.

This is my favorite fall quilt. It’s thin and you can add extra layers depending on how cold it gets where you live. I added this thin green mattress topper and I’m loving this 2-sided handmade vintage cotton blanket that adds a little more depth on top of the green. Perfect Fall bedding and these brown floral pillows go really well with everything.

I’ve also been busy in my kitchen creating and making new things for the season. You are going to want to make this From-Scratch Cast Iron Mac ‘n Cheese on repeat. It’s creamy and full of comfort!

These Pumpkin Maple Sourdough Scones are the perfect thing to add to your weekend breakfast, grab one for the road or have them in the afternoon as a treat. Invite your friends over just for a few hours, chatting and catching up and drinking coffee or a cup of hot tea.

With both of these recipes, I’m using fresh-milled flour. You can use all-purpose flour if you like but you’ll be missing out on all the nutrition in the whole grains. Not ready to grind your own flour, scroll down to see where you can buy nutritious fresh-milled flour. It’s the “A Few of My Favorite Things” section 👇🏻 .

Pumpkin Maple Sourdough Scones

Serve these delicious scones with your breakfast or as a treat in the afternoon. So yummy!

From-Scratch Cast Iron Mac ‘n Cheese

I could it this literally for dinner. Just serve it in a bowl, grab a blanket, sit on the sofa and put a favorite movie. Comfort in a bowl, no matter what age. So delicious and creamy!

If you aren’t much of a coffee drinker like I’m not, I found this delicious “not coffee” made from organic herbs, spices and plants. My favorite is the Chocolate not coffee. They even have a download where you can make your own barista style coffees and teas at home.

9-11 25th Anniversary

On this 25th anniversary of September 11, we pause in quiet remembrance.

We honor the nearly 3,000 souls taken too soon, the bravery of first responders who ran toward danger, the families who still carry the weight of that day, and a nation that chose resilience over fear.

Twenty-five years later, their light has not dimmed. May we never forget—and may we continue to live in a way that makes their memory a lasting force for unity, courage, and peace.

Let us pray for all of the families that are still grieving. If you’ve never been to see the memorial in NYC, I encourage you to take your family and educate the younger ones.

Book Update

Ok, I’m getting closer to seeing my proof. I just submitted all my photos to the editor and it’s a little nerve racking trusting someone to get my vision. I’ve learned to let go and let someone else help me with this part. I’m trusting in God as he’s been leading and guiding me this entire way. I should have it ready for print mid-October. If you pray, please include me that this book gets finished in time and it’s everything I wanted it to be. My friend’s daughter’s wedding is 10/30/26 so I’m trying to get it done so I can give it to her for her wedding gift.

If you have an idea or are wanting to write a book, I’ve got some exciting news I’ll be able to share with you once my book is published. 😍

Reader, as always, tag me over on Instagram @lhsimpleliving. I love seeing all things simple living and any recipes of mine you make.

P.S. I truly appreciate all the shares, likes, comments on my posts and over on Instagram. It keeps me going everyday to show up and share any wisdom that I may have.

So, go grab a cup of coffee or tea and I hope you enjoy the reading today. Have a great weekend!
