“Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker
Hi Reader,
Happy Friday and Hello January!
I have to tell you that looking back over Christmas, I don’t really remember it all that well. I don’t even think I shared a newsletter that week and I’m so sorry.
Since Thanksgiving weekend, we had been dealing with my husband, Bill’s dad that ended up going into the hospital the Monday after I took him home. His dad spent Thanksgiving weekend with us and we had a great time.
On that Monday after, we got a text from his sister that his dad had pneumonia and was in ICU. We spent the entire month going back and forth to a few towns over. He sadly passed away on December 21st. We then had his celebration of life on December 27th (due to traveling with the holidays). It’s honestly been a whirlwind. I’m glad he isn’t suffering and I think it was pretty cool that he got to spend Christmas with Jesus.
Things happen when we least expect it. It’s one thing when someone has a long-term illness. You kinda get to plan and say your goodbyes. When it’s sudden like this or some kind of accident, it hurts a little longer.
Did You Hear the Good News?
I’m beyond excited about the food pyramid (that I grew up on) has been flipped upside down. There’s still a few things to get rid of, but this is an amazing start.
I’m sharing all about it in an updated post (Creating a Healthy Kitchen) that I originally wrote back in January of 2022. It just felt right and the perfect timing to share this post again.

Grains - These two companies are my favorite for buying grains and freshly milled flour. The flour is ground on a Unifine mill, which retains all the nutrition due to the process of using stones. No glyphosate, non-gmo, organic clean wheat. If you are just diving in, this is a great place to start.
