“Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker
Hi Reader,
Happy Saturday!
It’s one week until America’s Big 250th Birthday! 🇺🇸
Are you getting excited? What do you have planned for next weekend? We have rented a water slide and just going to keep it simple this year with a BBQ and fireworks at my son’s house. We will probably go to the parade in the morning on the 4th but other than that, we’ll just be spending time with family and friends all weekend long.
Speaking of BBQ’s….what do you think of when you think of a BBQ or a backyard gathering in the summer? Hot Dogs and Burgers, right?
I actually quit eating hot dogs years ago when I started reading labels and realized the store brands were filled with junk and fillers. Well, I finally found an all beef, grass fed hot dog that has only clean ingredients. Plus, I make my own hot dog buns. These also go great with these little beef sliders.
How do you like yours, as in what toppings do you like on it? I’m originally from West Virginia and boy, are they known for their hot dogs. I’m sharing a family recipe for a really good hot dog chili. There’s nothing like having a hot dog piled high with mustard, chili and slaw. You have to try it!
Another part of our Summer Series is a Cherry Galette. If you saw last week’s newsletter, go back and save it. You’ll want the vanilla bean ice cream to put on top of this scrumptious dessert.
In Other News
We have been working on a few projects around the house. Bill and I have lived in our new “old” farmhouse for five years now. I can’t believe how fast time has flown. We’re making a few changes inside and out and I am excited to share more with you.
I’ve also personally been involved in a big project for the past six months. I’m getting close to being finished. So many fun things going on right now. I’ll be sharing this with you after the 4th of July. Stay tuned….
P.S. I’ll be back mid week with a few more things to help you get ready for the 4th of July! 🇺🇸
I’m celebrating my mom’s 79th Birthday today! 🎉 See you next week!

Grains - These two companies are my favorite for buying grains and freshly milled flour. The flour is ground on a Unifine mill, which retains all the nutrition due to the process of using stones. No glyphosate, non-gmo, organic clean wheat. If you are just diving in, this is a great place to start.
