“Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker
Hi Reader,
Happy Weekend!
I hope you enjoyed last week’s newsletter. I tried to pack in as much as I could for 4th July decorating. Do you have your home all decked out in Red, White and Blue? I love the 250 years Wooden Quilt that’s in the photo 👆🏻.
P.S. If you do not live in America, I’d love to know where you are from. Reply back to this email and share all about it. One day I hope to go to Italy or Greece for a visit. I’m sure there’s other countries too, like Sweden or Ireland.
Ok, back to the topic. My Summer Series for this week is all about making homemade ice cream. I grew up turning the handle on an “old school” ice cream maker like this one. I have four flavors I’m sharing with you today. I have such great memories as a child during the Summer. We lived in WV (that’s where I’m from) and we’d always have BBQ’s with our family all Summer. It was the best. When it got dark outside, we were chasing all the fireflies too. I sure do miss those simpler days.
Also, don’t forget about DAD on Sunday. If you have a father or a father-figure in your life, treat him to a special lunch, dinner or just a cup of coffee and hang out with him. I’ve learned over the years, dads (for the most part) are rather simple and don’t require much. As they get older, they really just want to be with their family. I’ve lived by this saying since I got married - “The key to a man’s heart is through his stomach”. I don’t know how many times I can count on my fingers all the times Bill, his dad or my own dad, would love something home cooked and home baked. The smile and the noises they make when they are eating is priceless.
I am not a fashion blogger and I won’t pretend to be one haha 😂. I do have some fun things I recently bought and wanted to share them with you. The long sleeve is perfect for a chilly night but not as thick as a sweatshirt. Do not judge me on the wrinkles on the t-shirts lol. I just unpacked them as they were shipped to me. Some are on sale and offer free shipping.
Reader, as always, tag me over on Instagram @lhsimpleliving. I love seeing all things simple living and any recipes of mine you make.
P.S. I truly appreciate all the shares, likes, comments on my posts and over on Instagram. It keeps me going everyday to show up and share any wisdom that I may have.
So, go grab a cup of coffee or tea and I hope you enjoy the reading today. Hope you are having a great Summer so far! ❤️

Grains - These two companies are my favorite for buying grains and freshly milled flour. The flour is ground on a Unifine mill, which retains all the nutrition due to the process of using stones. No glyphosate, non-gmo, organic clean wheat. If you are just diving in, this is a great place to start.
