“Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker

Hi Reader,

Happy Friday!

It’s the last weekend of May and that means Summer is coming! It’s kind of already here in the South haha. Do you have any vacation plans or anything fun planned for the next few months?

We were going to the mountains for the 4th of July but had to cancel that trip since a lot of our employees are wanting to take the time off. Bill and I just decided that we’ll stay home in case something happens. We own a construction company and I also work full-time there, mainly in our Human Resources department. Other than staying here, we are just going to be working on some fun projects around the house. Stay tuned and I’ll share everything we’re doing when we’re all done or close to being done.

I’ve got a fun and inexpensive DIY wreath I’m sharing on the blog today. It will add such an extra cozy cottage feel to your home. I added mine to my rolling library ladder. So fun!

Oh, and you are going to want to keep this yummy no-bake cheese cake in your recipe box all Summer long. In a cute little jar, mind you. So refreshing!

My favorite garden beds are on sale through midnight TONIGHT. Grab anything from their site for 25-40% off. I have the green and cream raised beds and absolutely love them. Grow your own food and save money at the store plus it will be much healthier.

Slowing Down

Do you like to slow down in the Summer or are you go-go-go non-stop. I used to plan every single day when my kids were little. We’d meet up with friends, go to the springs, float down the river, bbq’s and so much more. Looking back it was exhausting lol so now, I have chosen to slow down during the Summer.

I like to take this slow season and prepare for the last quarter of the year. That’s the go-go-go time for me. You’ve got fall (apple picking, canning, pumpkins, Thanksgiving) and then Christmastime (decorating, baking, hosting, etc.) It’s nice to rest our bodies like that.

One thing I also chose to do years ago is just live more simply and peacefully. Some may call me boring and I say who cares haha. I love being in our home and spending time with our animals. Plus, my kids (and their families) live on the property as well. We get together very often (plus we work together lol). You’d think we’d be sick of one another haha.

Have you ever thought about living simply like the Amish do? No, I’m not talking about wearing blue and black dresses with little bonnets (only if you want to ❤️). I’m definitely down for driving a horse and buggy though. They really don’t want for much and are some of the healthiest individuals here in the U.S. That is due to the no technology and clean food they raise for their families. Plus, they get exercise all day long as they are busy working. I’ve been to several of their communities and they are really nice people. They just want to be left alone and I don’t blame them. What’s fascinating to me is that they are all about community. If someone needs something, they drop what they are doing and take care of their people. I wish more towns were like that here in the USA.

America is Turning 250 Years Old

Wow, we will never see this number again! If you are in the USA, I hope you are planning on celebrating big this year! I’ll be sharing over the month of June home decor ideas, recipes, and all the things to get you excited! God Bless America! 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸

How to Tie a Ribbon Tail Bundle on a Wreath

I have wreaths (small and large) all over my home. I love the coziness they bring. I used a dollar store wreath for this project. Take a look at how easy this was.

Live Simply Like the Amish Do

No, you don’t have to dress like them but they have a wonderful simple living lifestyle that we can all learn from.

One of my favorite things to do is buy Amish-Made products. Most of them are made right in Ohio. They are high quality items like my house brooms, clothesline, baskets and more. I see a few new items that I’m going to grab while they are on sale.

Reader, as always, tag me over on Instagram @lhsimpleliving. I love seeing all things simple living and any recipes of mine you make.

P.S. I truly appreciate all the shares, likes, comments on my posts and over on Instagram. It keeps me going everyday to show up and share any wisdom that I may have.

So, go grab a cup of coffee or tea and I hope you enjoy the reading today. Hope you have a great weekend friend! ❤️
