Two-Week Challenge: Removing Seed Oils From Our Diet

Do what you can, with what you have. ~ Wendy Walker
Hi Reader,
Have you heard of them? They are called the Hateful 8 because they wreak havoc on our bodies.
I shared a post on both my personal page and my bread page on Facebook today and 1 was removed and the other one no one looked at it. I thought it was weird and then I thought, it’s because of the words “Seed Oils” I used. I ended up editing my post and changed one word around. I hope everyone can read between the lines as this is such an important topic.
I read a book a few months ago called Dark Calories by Catherine Shanahan,MD. She’s a practicing doctor. It’s the best book I’ve ever read (other than the Bible). It talks about the effects of seed oils in our body. Did you know seed oils are worse for us than sugar? Than white sugar? I had no idea seed oils were worse. I removed them (and white sugar) from my home about 20 years ago but unfortunately, I still eat out and go to other’s homes for meals. I’m working on how to avoid them at restaurants, especially when we are traveling. I don’t eat fast food but occasionally we like Longhorn or Mexican (the chips are so bad for us but they are so good 🤦🏼♀️) places.
I’m doing a Two-Week Challenge to Remove Seed Oils from our diet and wanted to see if you’d like to join me. My husband, Bill, and I are doing it. It’s all FREE and I’m not selling anything. Just thought it would be fun to support each other. It’s just 2 weeks (that’s only 14 days) of cooking at home. No chips, no sodas, no processed foods, at all. In the back of the book, there is a guide on what to eat for the 2 weeks. I already do this myself but again, I eat out. I can feel it in my joints and the inflammation, well, I’m tired of it.
You can buy the book on Amazon but it’s not necessary. I’m going to do some LIVES on the group page discussing the book. We will go over the 2 week meal plan and discuss how we are doing. I’m really curious to see what changes will happen. I’ll also be sharing tips on how to keep going moving forward. So, if you have mystery symptoms or just feel lethargic, I hope you will join me on this challenge.
Here are the Hateful 8 Seed Oils that we all should be avoiding. I will be going over them in the Facebook group. You will be shocked how some of these are made. Look in your pantry to see what items you have that list any of these oils.
Canola
Corn
Cottonseed
Sunflower
Safflower
Grapeseed

What About Consuming Flour?
Well, I’m excited to tell you that Dr. Cate endorses eating freshly milled flour! I’ve never heard any other doctor talk about it. She believes that the most nutritious bread comes from flour that has been milled and then baked right away. She also loves using it in Sourdough bread.
I know it’s good for us, but I thought it would be nice to include Dr. Cate’s endorsement here. I’m also including a snippet from her book where she talks about it.
Reader, as always, tag me over on Instagram @lhsimpleliving. I love seeing all things simple living and any recipes of mine you make.
P.S. I truly appreciate all the shares, likes, comments on my posts and over on Instagram. It keeps me going everyday to show up and share any wisdom that I may have.
So, go grab a cup of coffee, tea or hot cocoa. I hope you enjoy the reading today. Many blessings sweet friend and stay warm! I hear the snow storm hit already.
Use the form below to sign up for the challenge. Once I receive it, I will add you to the Facebook group. Let’s ditch the oils and get truly healthy this year.

Little House Simple Living “Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker Hi Reader, Happy Tuesday friend! I couldn’t wait until the end of the week to tell you but…. I just became a new Grandma 🎉! I don’t even feel old enough to be one haha but my son and his wife had the most perfect little girl. They named her Scarlett Rose and I’m already obsessed with her. I spent the last few weeks preparing meals and these wonderful Lactation Cookies for Maddy. In doing so, it prompted me to...
Little House Simple Living “Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker Hi Reader, Happy Thursday friend! I’m glad to be back on track with my weekly postings. Did you get a chance to look at all the recipes I shared during my Super Bowl Party Menu series? That was fun doing and I hope you enjoyed it too. So, it looks like Spring is coming but I also checked the weather and it’s looks like it’s cooling back down over the next few weeks. Maybe it’s a false Spring we’re having 🤷🏼♀️....
