Chocolate chip cookie skillet, clean rust from cast iron

“Do what you can, with what you have.” ~ Wendy Walker

Hi Reader,

Happy Friday friend!

It’s the last day of the month and I’m excited and sad at the same time. Autumn 🍂 is drawing near to an end and yet, I love the Christmas season, I sure will miss all of my Fall decor. It’s just now starting to cool off here so that is a bonus.

Seasons come and seasons go and I love what they all bring. I will be putting up all of my Christmas greenery over the next few weeks. I did that last year and it was so nice not to have to stress and get everything decorated all at one time. It was also so cozy in our home during Thanksgiving with all the greenery, dried orange slices and pilgrims. 🦃

REMINDER: Don’t forget to turn your clocks back on Saturday night. We “Fall” back until next Spring. I’m not a fan of the shorter days but if it’s cold out in the evening, I might as well be inside haha.

I made this orange topiary tree last year for Thanksgiving and I just loved it. Everyone grabbed an orange, if they wanted too. I’ll be sharing how I made it with you soon.

I figured since we are in between holidays, now is a good time to take care of our cast iron. Do you have any rust on yours? About once a year, I like to do a deep cleaning on all of mine. All of these treasures will last forever, if maintained properly.

I’m also sharing a delicious Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie recipe that you will want to make. It’s perfect for the holidays or freeze the dough for game or movie nights.

Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie

This skillet cookie is ooey gooey on the inside and has a slight crisp on the edges. It’s perfect for sharing!

How to Clean Rust From Your Cast Iron

Whether you have your granny’s skillet or you’ve started a collection of your own, they have to be taken care. Here’s an easy way to remove any rust that has developed on yours.

I love using my cast iron for both inside and outside cooking and baking. These Buttermilk Sourdough Biscuits and Sourdough Cinnamon Rolls are great for breakfast. Creamy Parmesan Chicken with Bacon is great cooked in my 12 inch round pan. Hawaiian Pizza in a 10 inch skillet is always good as well.

I’m excited to see what November brings. I’ll be sharing a gift guide, a few select collaborations (I’m very particular who I partner with) and all of my Christmas decor. Oh, and of course, yummy food!
